What treatments can I request sperm from a donor?

In all, except the Embryo Adoption treatment. Since, the embryos are already formed and vitrified in the embryo bank.
Semen bank
We work with the Sperm Bank of the CEFER Reproduction Institute.
It was the first semen bank in Spain. It was founded in 1977 and has helped the birth of more than 5,000 children.

Selection of the donor from the semen bank

Sperm donors go through a thorough screening process.
The initial requirements that must be met are;
- Be between 18 and 31 years old
- Measuring more than 1.70 in height.
- They cannot be adopted because they would not have information about family history.
- They must not suffer from any serious hereditary disease.
If they meet these initial requirements, they are scheduled at the center with an andrologist to complete complete personal and family history questionnaires. A physical examination will be carried out and they will be performed; semen analysis and culture, serology for AIDS, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, syphilis, cytomegalovirus and chlamydia, blood group and Rh factor. In addition to ruling out chromosomal alterations in blood by karyotyping, it is the only center that also studies them in semen by FISH technique. They also study genetic alterations such as cystic fibrosis and thalassemia.

Classic semen
The donor undergoes a study that exceeds the mandatory analytics by law.
They study not only the quantity but the quality, detecting chromosomal alterations using the FISH technique, reducing the risk of Down syndrome and others.
For this reason and due to the required seminal quality, only 13% of the candidates become donors. All of this to dramatically increase your chances of becoming pregnant and having a healthy baby.
Genetic semen
They study the donor for the 33 most frequent and high impact genetic diseases.
It is an important step towards preventing a sick baby.
Semen Compatibility
It offers the maximum prevention possible today. They allow, by just giving a small blood sample, to know which genes can transmit disease (even without a family history) for more than 310 frequent and high-impact genetic diseases studied. With this test the possibility of having a sick baby is considerably reduced. Since the test allows the genetic compatibility with the patient.
Advantages of the genetic test
Many more diseases studied at a lower cost than the traditional equivalent.
With the genetic test, the cost per disease studied does not exceed € 3.
Provides more information than current diagnostic methods. An example: the traditional Cystic Fibrosis study (valued at € 330) studies 34 mutations of the causative gene; With the Compatibility test we studied 140 mutations (+ 400%).
Among the diseases studied are those with the greatest impact such as Cystic Fibrosis, Fragile X Syndrome, Spinal Muscular Atrophy, Sickle Cell Anemia, Alpha and Beta Thalassemia and Tay-Sachs Disease.
Premium semen
He is a sperm donor with proven fertility. This means that at least one pregnancy has been obtained with this donor. You also have access to a questionnaire on the donor's tastes and hobbies.

Did you know that you can reserve semen from the same donor for a second baby?
Donor semen samples can be reserved for the future. This allows you to have the same donor for a second pregnancy. If you are interested in this option, you will have to communicate it as soon as possible in order to select a donor with sufficient doses for your treatments.
